Ryu's Tutorial Biography  Tutorial  Moves
First let's begin with the basics.

Fireball
Just because you can do a fireball doesn't mean you're getting the full potential out of the move. A great player can always do a fireball as quickly as he needs to. Practice making sure you can do one fireball after another as quickly as it can be done.

You should be able to throw fireballs as quickly as the game will let you. If you have perfected this you will never have to worry about "getting fireballed to death" Now that you can do fireball very quickly, we can move on to some interesting things that you can do with it. Practice super jumping (down, up), toward your opponent. BUT try to land a few character lengths in front of him. When your feet reach the other character's head start throwing fireballs as quickly as you can. If you have done it correctly you will have thrown at least 3 fireballs VERY quickly at your opponent.

If you execute this properly, you will hit your opponent if he does anything but block. If he tries to jump he will be hit. If he tries to attack, you will be to far away for his basic moves, and he will be hit. If he tries a projectile, your first one will cancel his, and the next 2 will hit him. Try to follow in your fireball. Throw a slow fireball using your light punch button, and then dash (tap forward twice), toward your opponent.

This is great because it allows you to get close to your opponent without having to worry about getting hit (accept for the super fireball, but we'll cover that later). You can use this to set up big techniques which we will cover later.

Hurricane Kick
This move is very tricky to really use. If you use it too much you leave yourself open to major damage. But it can also (when used properly), bring your opponent to his knees. Practice dashing toward your opponent (possibly using the fireball technique), and once you're right in front of him throw 1 light punches (this is to make sure you cancel any moves that might knock you out of your hurricane), and then do a hurricane kick.

This is particularly good because if your opponent tries to hit you with anything big you will cancel it with your jabs, and technique right into a hurricane kick.

Dragon Punch
This is move is quite the same as the hurricane kick. Use it well and you can really hurt your opponent, but use it when you shouldn't and you are a sitting duck. Practice dashing toward your opponent (possibly using the fireball technique), and once you get in front of him throw a dragon punch.

This works because your opponent will not expect it. He may block the first, but the second is always unexpected, and usually hits. Try using the dash hurricane technique above and at the end throw in a light dragon punch.

This is just an add on to the hurricane kick technique, but it's also a great way to keep pounding your opponent. There are more techniques to be discovered for EACH of the special moves. A lot of them involve using basic techniques before using one of your special moves. I won't list them all but I'll show you one. Just try to do the same thing you see there with different basic moves, and special moves.

Advanced Techniques
Now this is where you will truly learn how to dominate your opponent. In this section you will learn you to technique into your super moves, learn how to fight against different fighting styles, and generally get a feel for exploiting what your opponent is doing to you. Your helpers are THE single most powerful tool at your disposal. They can get you out of a jam, or they can't start a combination that will virtually destroy your opponent. Here I will show you an advanced technique for each type of helper.

Psylocke/Guile/Blanka/Venom/Spiral
Try using this to get out of a bad situation, and turning it into a deadly event for your opponent. When you are trapped in a super move just simply call out your helper, and technique into a super of your own watch This is great because it turns the tables in a second on your opponent. They go from getting a super on you to having one dealt to them.

Psylocke/Guile/Blanka/Venom
In our basics section you learned how to dash in and use a special move. Now let's expand that. Using the dash in technique for your hurricane kick, call out your helper when you're finished the hurricane, follow that up with something light (kick or punch) and then use a super move. watch This is great because you if done properly there's not a thing he can do. He will take at least 50% damage from the move if it connects in its entirety. The only thing you have to master is how long you have to stall for your helper. Some come out and do damage right away (Psylocke/Blanka), while others take their time dishing out damage (Guile/Venom). So you will have to learn exactly how much you will have to do when you call them so that you can keep them cornered.

Spiral
Has a great technique all her own. If you are across the screen from your opponent call out Syndel and the IMMEDIATELY do a super hurricane kick. watch to be continued...
